TFF End of Year Awards
The nominees for the awards were published in mid December and the winners were announced on 17th January 2017.
The award categories and stats results were broken down into the following categories:
SITE OF THE YEAR
selected by TFF Trustees from the shortlisted nominees
The Site of the Year 2016 is the main award and will be given to the site that has shown incredible successes in a variety of areas. Not only will it be a site that has shown great attendance stats but also have a number of impressive success stories, engaged with a variety of volunteers, trained up new coaches, linked to partners to facilitate different tennis pathways and have a great impact on the local community. The award will be chosen by the TFF Trustees.
Nominations:
Beacon Park (Lichfield) - Topping the "Most Individual Attendees" table for 2016 and with TFF's busiest ever site launch, Beacon Park is a solid contender for TFF Site of the Year 2016. The site also landed the Davis Cup at the launch of the scheme and has rocketed to an impressive 950+ players introduced to tennis at the park in less than a year. There are multiple spin off tennis sessions being delivered at the park and the local linked tennis club have gained many new members from the scheme.
Lampton Park (Hounslow) - Operating on near derelict courts, TFF Lampton Park has had an incredible year having engaged over 800 individuals in TFF sessions and provided wider tennis services (via Tennis at Cattaway) to an incredible 2571 individuals across the rest of the programme. Aside from fantastic stats, Lampton Park has also engaged a variety of active volunteers and mentored an attendee to an LTA qualified coach level who now coaches as part of the main team. With a number of success stories under its belt for 2016, the greatest is perhaps showcasing a scheme to the local authority appointed court operators, who in an attempt to facilitate the park community, have pledged full funding to completely resurface the almost derelict 7 courts and fencing in 2017 to bring the courts back to life.
Sefton Park (Liverpool) - With an almost clean sweep of the stats tables throughout the Summer, TFF Sefton Park is a powerhouse of a tennis conveyor belt in driving huge numbers of players to the park and efficiently providing additional tennis services via the linked Mersey Bowman tennis club and other tennis outlets. Winner of the LTA's Lancashire Community Venue of the Year, Sefton Park not only has an incredible stats and organised wider programme outlet, but it has trained and mentored a variety of coaches and features loyal volunteers who help manage the weekly programme.
WINNER - Hednesford Park (Staffordshire) - Having delivered TFF sessions to 934 individuals in 2016, Hednesford Park have been in the top two stats positions throughout the entire year. Aside from great stats, Hednesford Park have attracted volunteers and coaches to their team and have actively helped sustain the linked Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club with new members and new inter-league teams. With a GP referral service linked directly to the TFF sessions (organised by the council) and a Police Social Inclusion Scheme operating on the same park courts, Hednesford Park have also shown the potential of how other worthy initiatives can link directly with TFF to enhance the park community.
REGION OF THE YEAR

This award will go to the most successful UK region. It will either be Scotland, North of England, The Midlands or the South of England. The winner will be the region that has the most successful batch of TFF sites and have got the most engaged site support network.

COACH OF THE YEAR
selected by TFF's central team and trustees.
The TFF coach of the year will be any coach (or assistant coach) from TFF's 37 venues that has contributed the most to the success of their individual TFF site.
Nominations:
Matthew Cattaway (Lampton Park / Elthorne Park) - Matthew has been the driving force behind two very successful TFF schemes and not only has he mentored incredible teams that deliver the TFF sessions, but has actively recruited and mentored loyal volunteers who also help in the administration and delivery. With successful applications to the Give it Your Max charity, Matthew has linked grassroots ladder rungs together by getting into a wide variety of schools (with GIYM) providing free schools sessions and then forwarding that interest to the park (via TFF). This has resulted in great attendance stats across his TFF schemes and he's also showcased the success of these programmes to the local authority courts providers for successful court resurfacing.
David Simms (Sefton Park / Maghull) - David has been the lead coach at Sefton Park and the newly launched Maghull throughout 2016. He has successfully led his Sefton Park site to be TFF's greatest stats contributor in achieving higher levels of Attendances and attendees than any other TFF site for 2016. His Sefton Park site have attracted players from 39 different nationalities and have won the Lancashire Community Venue of the Year LTA Award for 2016. The linked Mersey Bowman Tennis Club (one of the oldest clubs in the world) have seen around 50 new members as a result of the TFF scheme at the local park.
David Arulanandam (TFF Joseph Hood / TFF Tam Rec) - Formerly an LTA Coach of the Year nominee, David has headed up two of TFF's most successful legacy schemes and has grown them to new new levels in 2016. TFF Joseph Hood, the first TFF site (launched in 2003) is still going strong and continues to attract large numbers of players whilst a re-vamped TFF Tam Rec, with a successful funding bid from the Wimbledon Foundation, is driving a vibrant tennis community of all ages and abilities. Despite all of this, David's biggest success for TFF is his personal seeking of support and funding for his TFF sites. He has successfully recruited local funds from Waitrose, equipment from Wilson and has been part of successful grant writing team in 2016.
WINNER - Eric Flack (TFF Drumchapel) - Eric has been an incredibly loyal coach of the TFF scheme in Drumchapel and at the age of 76, is TFF's oldest tennis coach by some margin. Despite a major operation in 2016, Eric worked his way back to fitness with tennis and his TFF tennis service acting as part of that rehabilitation. His efforts with TFF and loyalty with the linked Drumchapel Tennis Club have provided a winning pathway that's enabled a good membership influx from TFF players.
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

TFF are fortunate to have some great and loyal volunteers. The TFF volunteer of the year will be a volunteer that has gone that extra mile both on and off the court and one that has had a significant impact on the success of their local TFF Site.
Nominations:
Danny Woodworth (TFF Sefton Park) - Danny has been a very active volunteer for TFF whose volunteering has spanned all areas of administration and session delivery. Danny has completed over 250 on court volunteering hours over the past 3 years along with taking the mantle for publishing TFF Sefton Park news via their website and administration for stats and other off court duties. He's become an LTA Level 1 coach
WINNER - Yvonne Mallabone (TFF Pype Hayes Park) - Yvonne has completed her level 1 coaching award and park activator course and is an integral part of the success of TFF Pype Hayes Park (TFF Site of the Year for 2015) both on court as a volunteer coach (when needed) and off court as an organiser of the community (organising attendances, arranging matches, arranging events and promoting tennis activities). In addition, she's helped set up an Active Parks campaign with the help of Birmingham City council expanded parks' communities into nearby Sutton Park. In addition to her volunteering at Pype Hayes Park, she's also provided volunteer services at the linked Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club where she's also become a tennis member.
Mark Harding (TFF Manor Park) - With an incredible 13 years of volunteering service for TFF (at TFF's joint oldest site - Manor Park), 2016 has had no let-up in terms of his volunteering service. Mark has continued to be the driver of this legacy TFF scheme b that runs almost entirely from the good will of the community.
Trevor Jones (TFF Lampton Park) - Trevor has been a committed coach volunteer of the TFF sessions at Lampton Park and has been an integral part of both the on-court and administration team. Trevor, who recently retired, had a passion for working as a volunteer in an inner city sports programme to which TFF provided the perfect fit.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The TFF Player of the year won't necessarily be the most improved player or the most successful player but most likely a player who's had an incredible personal tennis journey or player that has had the most significant contribution to their TFF Site or wider tennis community.

ONLINE MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA AWARD
selected by TFF's Executive Team from the shortlisted nominees
One of the most important elements of a TFF Site is to reach far and wide into the local area and to promote the TFF service in order to engage with new people. Online marketing and social media is TFF's most valuable tool in getting people knowing about TFF and showcasing the atmosphere and benefits of it. This award will go to the site that has the most impacting and far reaching online appeal.
Nominations:
Drumchapel (Glasgow) - With a lead coach that is very focused on publicity and social media, TFF Drumchapel have provided some of the best imagery and engaging social media for their sessions.
WINNER - Pelican Park (Hull) - With a dedicated Friends' Group, Pelican Park have benefited from some great PR and social media that have perhaps culminated in them being one of the higest attendance stats improvers between 2015-2016.
Court Rec (Epsom) - With a strong Friends' Group that has spanned more than 10 years, TFF COurt Rec have a very active online media programme with much of their group activities directed through their social media and online channels.
Hednesford Park (Staffordshire) - Always promoting their TFF sessions and wider linked Club activities, Hednesford Park are a strong candidate for this award.
BEST NEW SITE

The Best New Site Award will go to a TFF Site launched in 2016 that has collectively had the most success in attendance stats, success stories, volunteers and general impact on the local community.
Nominations:
WINNER - Beacon Park (Lichfield) - With the largest site launch of any TFF Site, a successful Davis Cup presentation at their park, most attendees of all TFF sites for 2016, Beacon Park have had a fantastic start to their TFF initiative.
Maghull (Liverpool) - A great launch, regular high stats and a very engaged and active TFF delivery team, it's been a great year for TFF Maghull.
Wishaw (Scotland) - The busiest of the TFF Scotland Sites for 2016, not only did Wishaw have a vibrant launch, but they carried on this level of activity through the remainder of the year.
BEST YEAR 2 SITE

The Best Year 2 Site Award will go to a TFF Site launched in 2015 that has collectively had the most success in attendance stats, success stories, volunteers and general impact on the local community in 2016. It will also take into consideration improvement from 2015.

Gosforth Park (Newcastle) - Gosforth Park have had a great second year with good stats and a loyal volunteer base most notably with Kelly Edmund who initially joined from a volunteering scheme from the University of Northumberland.
WINNER - Hednesford Park (Staffordshire) - Having delivered TFF sessions to 934 individuals in 2016, Hednesford Park have been in the top two stats positions throughout the entire year. Aside from great stats, Hednesford Park have attracted volunteers and coaches to their team and have actively helped sustain the linked Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club with new members and new inter-league teams.
Pelican Park (Hull) - Pelican Park has made the largest stats transformation of any TFF site in 2016. In 2015, TFF Pelican Park were one of TFF's lower attended sites but has transformed itself to a TFF stats high flyer who regularly reach the top end of the stats table. Pelican Park's friends group are also one of the most engaged of any TFF site friends' group who are very active in social media and pull together to form a solid and organised community. If all of this wasn't enough to get in the nominations, Pelican Park have had some of the most incredible and heart-warming success stories from individual players on their TFF programme.
Lampton Park (Hounslow) - Operating on near derelict courts, TFF Lampton Park has had an incredible year having engaged over 800 individuals in TFF sessions and provided wider tennis services (via Tennis at Cattaway) to an incredible 2571 individuals across the rest of the programme.
BEST YEAR 3 SITE

The Best Year 3 Site Award will go to a TFF Site launched in 2015 that has collectively had the most success in attendance stats, success stories, volunteers and general impact on the local community in 2016. It will also take into consideration improvement from 2014 to present day.
Nominations:
TFF Pype Hayes Park (North Birmingham) - Formerly TFF Site of the Year for 2015, it's been another great year for Pype Hayes. A fantastic community group has formed with a strong club link and wider tennis activities make this site a strong contender for the Best Year 3 Site.
TFF Devonport Park (Plymouth) - A very strong community has developed at this site that has recently welcomed an influx of refugees who are enjoying learning the sport in the unique TFF environment. With a variety of regular and committed volunteers, most notably Rox who is part of the core delivery team, TFF Devonport Park gained great praise from one of the head figures of the Lawn Tennis Association.
TFF Victoria Park (Crosby) - Having had one of the busiest TFF sessions of all TFF sites in 2016, things are still going strong at Victoria Park who held the record for the most attendees at a TFF session until broken.

BEST LEGACY SITE

The Legacy site award is for TFF Sites more than 4 years old that are being directed by their local communities. The award will focus on the 2016 successes but will also take into consideration the historical contributions that the site has had since becoming a TFF Site.
Nominations:
WINNER - TFF Joseph Hood (Moredon) - Launched in 2003, TFF Joseph Hood have had another great year in 2016 attracting large numbers of new players and strengthening their community further.
TFF Manor Park (Aldershot) - Launched in 2003, TFF Manor Park have had another great year both in terms of stats and one of the key community members winning the LTA Volunteer of the Year Award.
TFF Court Rec (Epsom) - Launched in 2006, TFF Court Rec are going strong and are an ever presence on Social Media. Run completely on volunteers, this site have nurtured a UK No #1 junior player.
WIDER PROGRAMME AWARD

The TFF Site that has built up the most comprehensive and successful supporting tennis programme. This can be the linked club programme that has been successfully grown from TFF scheme influence or a programme on the park itself.
Nominations:
Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club (TFF Hednesford Park) - With a vibrant coaching programme at the linked Tennis Club, a GP Referral scheme linked to TFF and a Police social includsion scheme, TFF Hednesford Park have a great year with their wider programme.
WINNER - Tennis at Cattaway (TFF Lampton Park & Elthorne Park) - The Tennis Provider, Tennis at Cattaway have a thriving and organised programme on the back of the Lampton park and Elthorne Park schemes.
Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club (TFF Pype Hayes Park) - Membership levels and organised activities between Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club and Pype Hayes Park have been plentiful throughout 2016.
Liverpool Tennis Foundation (Sefton Park & Maghull) - Linking wider programmes and clubs to community schemes, Liverpool Tennis Foundation are a strong candidate with links into TFF Sefton Park and TFF Maghull as the community hubs.
END OF YEAR STATS
As well as the awards, we'll also be revealing the sites with the most successful stats. The stats categories will include:

* Site with Highest Weekly Average Attendance = Beacon Park (60 players per week average)

*Not applicable to 2016 launch sites, the site with the most attendees that had their first tennis experience in 2016 will win this title.

Aside from great stats, Hednesford Park have attracted volunteers and coaches to their team and have actively helped sustain the linked Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club with new members and new inter-league teams.
Pelican Park (Hull) - Pelican Park has made the largest stats transformation of any TFF site in 2016. In 2015, TFF Pelican Park were one of TFF's lower attended sites but has transformed itself to a TFF stats high flyer who regularly reach the top end of the stats table. Pelican Park's friends group are also one of the most engaged of any TFF site friends' group who are very active in social media and pull together to form a solid and organised community. If all of this wasn't enough to get in the nominations, Pelican Park have had some of the most incredible and heart-warming success stories from individual players on their TFF programme.
Lampton Park (Hounslow) - Operating on near derelict courts, TFF Lampton Park has had an incredible year having engaged over 800 individuals in TFF sessions and provided wider tennis services (via Tennis at Cattaway) to an incredible 2571 individuals across the rest of the programme.
BEST YEAR 3 SITE

The Best Year 3 Site Award will go to a TFF Site launched in 2015 that has collectively had the most success in attendance stats, success stories, volunteers and general impact on the local community in 2016. It will also take into consideration improvement from 2014 to present day.
Nominations:
TFF Pype Hayes Park (North Birmingham) - Formerly TFF Site of the Year for 2015, it's been another great year for Pype Hayes. A fantastic community group has formed with a strong club link and wider tennis activities make this site a strong contender for the Best Year 3 Site.
TFF Devonport Park (Plymouth) - A very strong community has developed at this site that has recently welcomed an influx of refugees who are enjoying learning the sport in the unique TFF environment. With a variety of regular and committed volunteers, most notably Rox who is part of the core delivery team, TFF Devonport Park gained great praise from one of the head figures of the Lawn Tennis Association.
TFF Victoria Park (Crosby) - Having had one of the busiest TFF sessions of all TFF sites in 2016, things are still going strong at Victoria Park who held the record for the most attendees at a TFF session until broken.
WINNER - Sefton Park (Liverpool) - With an almost clean sweep of the stats tables throughout the Summer, TFF Sefton Park is a powerhouse of a tennis conveyor belt in driving huge numbers of players to the park and efficiently providing additional tennis services via the linked Mersey Bowman tennis club and other tennis outlets.

The Legacy site award is for TFF Sites more than 4 years old that are being directed by their local communities. The award will focus on the 2016 successes but will also take into consideration the historical contributions that the site has had since becoming a TFF Site.
Nominations:
WINNER - TFF Joseph Hood (Moredon) - Launched in 2003, TFF Joseph Hood have had another great year in 2016 attracting large numbers of new players and strengthening their community further.
TFF Manor Park (Aldershot) - Launched in 2003, TFF Manor Park have had another great year both in terms of stats and one of the key community members winning the LTA Volunteer of the Year Award.
TFF Court Rec (Epsom) - Launched in 2006, TFF Court Rec are going strong and are an ever presence on Social Media. Run completely on volunteers, this site have nurtured a UK No #1 junior player.
WIDER PROGRAMME AWARD

The TFF Site that has built up the most comprehensive and successful supporting tennis programme. This can be the linked club programme that has been successfully grown from TFF scheme influence or a programme on the park itself.
Nominations:
Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club (TFF Hednesford Park) - With a vibrant coaching programme at the linked Tennis Club, a GP Referral scheme linked to TFF and a Police social includsion scheme, TFF Hednesford Park have a great year with their wider programme.
WINNER - Tennis at Cattaway (TFF Lampton Park & Elthorne Park) - The Tennis Provider, Tennis at Cattaway have a thriving and organised programme on the back of the Lampton park and Elthorne Park schemes.
Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club (TFF Pype Hayes Park) - Membership levels and organised activities between Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club and Pype Hayes Park have been plentiful throughout 2016.
Liverpool Tennis Foundation (Sefton Park & Maghull) - Linking wider programmes and clubs to community schemes, Liverpool Tennis Foundation are a strong candidate with links into TFF Sefton Park and TFF Maghull as the community hubs.

As well as the awards, we'll also be revealing the sites with the most successful stats. The stats categories will include:
* Site with Highest Attendances = Sefton Park (2508 attendances)
* Site with Highest Weekly Average Attendance = Beacon Park (60 players per week average)
* Site with Highest Attendees = Beacon Park (647 attendees)
* Site with Highest First Time Attendees = Sefton Park (525)*
*Not applicable to 2016 launch sites, the site with the most attendees that had their first tennis experience in 2016 will win this title.
