Looking to capitalise on the pre-Wimbledon tennis fever, 10am Sunday 22nd June will
see the launch of 2 hours of free weekly coach led tennis sessions that will be
available year round at Queen's Park in Burnley. The free weekly sessions have been made possible by a partnership with Townley Community Tennis Club, Burnley Council, the Tennis For Free Charity and the LTA.
Tennis For Free is a registered charity founded by comedian Tony
Hawks. Supported by Sport England and
the LTA and with high profile Patrons such as Stephen Fry and Judy Murray, the
charity aims to create healthy, vibrant tennis communities on FREE public park
tennis courts. The scheme in Queen's Park is also supported by a wider coaching programme delivered by the Townley Community Tennis Club. The courts at Queen's Park are free on a first come first served basis - no booking required.
Tennis For Free’s CEO Paul Jessop commented, "We're looking forward to working with Townley Community Tennis Club and Burnley Council in sparking a new wave of tennis interest into Burnley and getting people of all ages partaking in some enjoyable and healthy activity. With a wider programme of tennis activity delivered by Townley Community Tennis Club outside of the weekly free TFF sessions – there's something for everyone!!"
Those interested in attending the free sessions will need to sign up at Queensparktennis.co.uk where more details about the tennis at the facility can be found. More information about Tennis For Free visit the charity’s website http://www.tennisforfree.com/
